    Smelly Prime?

    Hey Guys,

    I have been using RO DI water for my SW setup and had been aging tap water for my girlfriends indoor pond. However with the warmer weather it only makes sense to fill the pond up with a hose (100g water changes makes for alot of hauling water!).

    I purchased a bottle of prime yesterday, Seachem Prime - Freshwater and Saltwater, in the red bottle. When I went to put a cap full into the pond this morning it smelt really bad.

    Is this normal? Did I get a bad bottle?

    I don't see an expiry date on the bottle.

    Be very very carful using a hose to fill up the pond as there could be chemicals that could have leached out from the inside of it. People have lost fish doing this.

    if its a really old hose (like over 7 ish years..) you should be fine... but if it says "not for drinking water" or "not for potable" then its got an anti mold/fungus coating/mix in the rubber.. and it will kill bacteria.. .. the good stuff too!... i ended up buying an anti fungus one myself and still use it.. but i ran hot water threw it for hours and hours.. and only use on my tanks after letting it run into the sink/tub for 15 mins or so... i havent had any issues with my tank.. but i DO NOT reccomend using these hoses.. i always push my luck.. and i dont have sensitive fish.. as for prime.. mine smells a bit like rotten eggs.. and everyone says it should..
