    Zeo-carb or activated carbon

Does anyone use either zeo-carb or activated carbon in their reef tank? Pros or cons? I know the benefits of it in freshwater, would it not have the same benefits in a reef? Opinions/ideas...

I use a very small amount of activated carbon in a bag passively hung in my sump. By small amounts I mean a few tablespoons changed weekly. I've read that's it's better to run a small amount changed more often. I'm sure others will chime in though.

The zeolite in zeo-carb (zeolite and carbon mix) is meant for fresh water use. The fresh water zeolite absorbs nitroginous compounds (mostly ammonia) and can actually be recharged with a strong saltwater bath. It will release compounds when in salt water. Only use zeolites that are meant for saltwater use like Zeo Vit and Fauna Marin zeo. If using carbon in a reef tank, make sure you use a high quallity carbon that is low in phosphate. Cheap carbons can leach phosphate into the water. Carbon can be benifitial but can also absorb good stuff as well.
