Thread: filter type...

  1. filter type...

    Hi all,
Just wondering if a fella was to set up a nano reef by using a regular small 10 gal. rectangular tank what type of filtration he should consider purchasing?
    Thanks to all that answer!

You don't really need filtration per say. Thats what the live rock is for. Just a power head or two to move the water around. It also depends on the bioload your are putting in there. I think most people like 1.25-1.5 lb's of lr per gallon so about 12-15 pounds would be good.

I would check into a small HOB skimmer.. Remora makes a good hob skimmer.
and as Jesse said.. 1.5lbs of good live rock per gallon.

yea skimmers are good. I always forget about them because I don't run one on my Biocube, yet. They take the headache out of somethings. If you have a lower bioload though and keep up on water changes religiously, you don't necessarily need one. If you can afford one though I'd go for it.
