hard water bulid up/ lime scale.. no idea
I am the proud father of a used 75 gallon tank... but one problem////it needs a major cleaning...but thats not the problem... tank is great no leaks. going to look nice once all set up.. ok now the problem.all the green algae is cleaned off, tank dries i go back to take a look a few hours later.. and it looks like a build up of calcium, hard water or lime scale.. or maybe i am way off??????/// it does not look to good... i added more water scrubbed again, it dries,, still there, scrubby wont do a thing... i looked on the net for answers... nothing, they kept sending me to the simple green lime scale remover website.......i have no idea what it is,and i a pretty sure someone here knows what it is and how to get rid off.... i aint scrubbing anymore, it aint doing anything except making my elbow sore... back and forth back and forth.....so until the tank is up and running, i am the proud owner of a 4 foot casket... so hopefully i came to the right place... tata for now :inquisitive:
ps. and hopefully you dont read the obituaries next week, regarding a young man, who was buried in his unused used fishtank

you could try some vinegar....Just rinse well once done. It may help depending on what the deposit actually is.

Re: hard water bulid up/ lime scale.. no idea
I second the vinegar idea. Soaking powerheads in vinegar usually gets them looking brand new. I usually use a 3:1 water/vinegar solution. 75g is alot of volume, though, so I'm not sure if a weaker solution (I'm talking soaking here) would work. It's alot of vinegar...but if you used about 20g of it and filled the rest with water, and let it soak for a good while, this would probably work. A good rinse after.
